Pekor Pumps, Inc.,  Columbus, GA, USA

Welcome to the Pekor Pumps, Inc. website.  Pekor Pumps, Inc. was founded in 1892 as Pekor Iron Works.

The main business of Pekor today is the manufacture of abrasion resistant Dredge Pumps and Slurry Pumps for the mining industry.

Our pumps are used to pump abrasive slurries in a wide array of industries including the Sand and Gravel and Aggregates industry, dredging rivers and harbors, pumping fly ash to waste areas at electric utilities, pumping beach sand in sand bypassing applications, and any other application where it is necessary to pump abrasive solids in a water mixture.

Our pumps range in size from 4" to 14", and are constructed with abrasion resistant Ni-Hard replaceable liners and other wear parts.

Pekor's rugged Slurry Pumps, ranging in size from 4" to 12", with Ni-Hard wear parts for coarse grained slurries, or long lasting polyurethane wear parts which are designed specifically for pumping fine grained abrasive slurries.

JETEL Jet Pumps by Pekor for 4" to 14" dredge pumps are used to help increase production, dredge at greater depths, and lower operating costs per ton delivered.

Pekor Jet Pumps are also used extensively in Sand Bypass applications at beach inlets and harbors as one of the most cost effective Sand Transfer Systems available.

Pekor also manufactures Hydrocyclones for dewatering and classifying the solids in a slurry.  A hydrocyclone utilizes centrifugal force to separate particles of different size in a slurry.  Our customers can make specification concrete and mortar sand using hydrocyclones in banks properly calibrated to classify, dewater and stack their concrete and mortar sand, reclaim valuable ores and heavy minerals such as gold, copper and taconite from old tailings, wash and classify coal.  Hydrocyclones come in sizes from 6" to 36" and are either of a Ni-Hard construction or have a Polyurethane lining, either of which is replaceable on site.

In recent years, Pekor has also developed and is marketing a Log Flumewater Cleaning System for pulp and paper mills consisting of slurry pumps, screens, and hydrocyclones which has proven tremendously successful at Alabama River Pulp and Alabama Pine Pulp Companies, Chesapeake Corporation, Leaf River Corporation, Kimberly Clark, Container Corporation, and many others.

The Pekor Log Flumewater Cleaning System is the most effective system on the market for removing sand from log flume water.  Sand in the flume water has been a tremendous maintenance problem for pulp and paper mills, and no effective system has been available for removal of the sand prior to the Pekor system.

Pekor has also developed a Fines Recovery System used for recovering fines from wastewater slurries, and either re-introducing the fines into the product, or keeping the fines from entering and filling the waste pond.  These systems, consisting of slurry pumps, hydrocyclones and special screens, offer a relatively low cost, highly effective method for reclaiming  fines which, for many years, have been lost with the waste water from  washing plants.

A very unique Ash Handling System, designed by Pekor, has been installed by many coal fired electric utilities.  This system has proven very successful, and is applicable to virtually all coal fired generating plants with ash ponds.
